The Central Branch Railroad is one of the oldest and longest historical railroad lines in the state. It served as a passenger train, a way station for shipping of cattle & turkeys, an orphan train, and transferred German prisnors of war.

The Marshall County Railroad Historical Society has launched a fundraising campaign to restore the rails. The Marshall County Railroad Historical Society is a non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of preserving the railroad history of Marshall County and Blue Rapids/Waterville area. Also, the Society established for the purpose of presenting educational programs that incorporate railroad history in the area and the history of railroads in general.
