The Mennonite Settlers Statue, in Newton, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, 2-26-98. The Statue was competed in 1941. The 17-foot statue was carved from native limestone and was erected in 1942. A young Kansas artist working under the WPA, Max Nixon, was the sculptor.
