Experience the diverse contributions and history of people of the African diaspora. View the thousands of artifacts that reflect the heritage of a great people beginning with traditional and contemporary African art and African American art. Bridge the gap of understanding about African Americans in Wichita and Kansas through the heritage Collection, through material culture, revisit aspects of African American history from a national prospective past and present. The Museum will assist all people to understand the African American experience with emphasis on African Americans in Wichita and Kansas. The Museum's mission is to be dedicated to the identification, acquisition, research, collections, presentation and preservation of historic documents, programs and visual art forms that are reflective of the African American life and culture.
